Lake Chemung

Located in Central Livingston County Michigan between Brighton and Howell, Lake Chemung is a valuable resource to areas surrounding it. Based on water quality results from a variety of groups over several years, Lake Chemung is considered a medium sized, warm water, deep lake popular for multiple recreational uses including swimming, fishing, and boating.

While Lake Chemung is a natural lake, its primary outlet, Alger Creek, has been dammed, increasing Lake Chemung’s size to around 313 acres. The lake has a fairly typical shoreline, elongated in shape and approximately 1.6 miles in length and abrupt depth changes reaching a maximum depth of 70 feet in some areas.
